DCI Carl Morck is a brilliant cop who attends a crime scene, which has huge consequences for himself and his colleagues. Returning to work, he discovers that he has been assigned to the basement as the only member of a newly formed department. Dept. Q, hastily put together to investigate cold cases, is really a PR stunt, there to distract the public from the failings of an under-resourced police force.
Intrigued then read on for our Netflix Dept. Q review.
Unloved by his colleagues because of his biting sarcasm and 'don't give a damn' attitude, Morck begins to form a team of misfits to help him solve the disappearance of an aspiring young prosecution lawyer. With everything to prove, the diverse skills of Dept. Q, shine a light on the inconsistencies and missed opportunities of the case, which could lead them back to the very police force they work for.

Comparisons to the Apple TV series, 'Slow Horses' are inevitable, but I actually enjoyed Netflix Dept. Q more, and really did binge watch it for our review whilst working through the post holiday ironing.
The cast reads like a who's who of Scottish television actors, including Kate Dickie, Shirley Henderson and Kelly Macdonald, with some excellent performances.
The twists and turns will have you watching the next episode long after your bedtime and the plot holds together from beginning to end. This unconventional team will have you rooting for them, as they begin to bond and share the difficulties that they have all individually faced.
Series two cannot come soon enough.
With thanks to our client, Karen for the recommendation. All episodes available on Netflix.
